EU, Ukraine reach common views

I will tell you what is going on behind doors.  Is a deal about Natural Gas.  Ukraine is a merging point for Russia’s Gas and Oil pipelines and the EU wants it.  Is a very simple formula; Create the Problem and Become the Solution.

We can relate all this to a Kitchen.  On one burner we have Ukraine, on other Syria, on the other China/Japan, simmering on another the Arabian Peninsula.  In the oven is Africa self basting.  On the Grill; Pakistan/Iran/Iraq/Turkmenistan.

The fuel that keep that going just Natural Gas.   2013-12-03 02:30:10

BRUSSELS, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) — Leaders between the European Union (EU) and Ukraine on Monday reached a five-point common view on the current tense situation in the country, said an EU press release.

According to the press release, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso took a phone conversation and reached a common view regarding the situation in Ukraine.

Both sides view that all sides should show restraint; all civil rights and liberties should be respected; the use of force by the police should be investigated as soon as possible; it is important that the Ukrainian authorities urgently engage with all relevant political forces; a peaceful and political solution is the only way for Ukraine out of the current situation.

“President Yanukovych agreed with this approach and explicitly confirmed the intention to investigate into the use of force by the Ukrainian police and to inform the public about the results,” said the press release.

During the same telephone call, Yanukovych has asked the European Commission to receive a delegation from Ukraine to have a discussion on some aspects of the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area.

Barroso confirmed the readiness of the European Commission to receive such a delegation at the appropriate level.

The Ukrainian leader’s decision to suspend initialing association agreements with the EU shortly before the EU Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius last week has aroused both discontent and support at home, from pro-EU and anti-EU groups respectively.
